# Installation

## macOS

Copy the three `.jsfx` files from the `plugins` folder to:

```text
~/Library/Application Support/REAPER/Effects/
```

The easiest way to find this folder:

1. Open REAPER.
2. Go to `Options > Show REAPER resource path in explorer/finder`.
3. Open the `Effects` folder.
4. Copy these files into it:
   - `HearingGuard.jsfx`
   - `LoudnessContour.jsfx`
   - `HeadphoneCrossfeed.jsfx`

Then restart REAPER or refresh the FX browser.

## Windows

Copy the three `.jsfx` files from the `plugins` folder to the REAPER resource folder:

```text
%APPDATA%\REAPER\Effects\
```

The easiest route:

1. Open REAPER.
2. Go to `Options > Show REAPER resource path in explorer/finder`.
3. Open the `Effects` folder.
4. Copy the three `.jsfx` files into it.
5. Restart REAPER or refresh the FX browser.

## Recommended Use

Place the plugins in `Monitoring FX` if possible, so they process the signal you actually hear through REAPER.

Recommended order:

```text
Loudness Contour
-> Headphone Crossfeed
-> Hearing Guard
```

Using only Hearing Guard is fine too. In that case, place Hearing Guard last in your headphone/monitoring chain.

## Note

Hearing Guard only measures audio that passes through REAPER and through this plugin chain. Audio outside REAPER, such as a browser or Spotify running outside REAPER, is not included.
