RetroGrid is a REAPER JSFX plugin for crunchy old-sampler character. It is inspired by the early Fruity Loops sound: clipped samples, ring modulation, reduced bit depth, sample-rate reduction, and the rough 4-bit and 8-bit edges that make small sounds feel direct, cheap, loud, and alive. The plugin is meant as a character effect rather than a clean repair tool. It can push drums, one-shot samples, loops, voices, and game-like sounds into a more damaged digital grid. The built-in scope shows the left and right wavef...

Hearing Guard Plugin Pack is a small set of JSFX plugins for REAPER, made for safer and more comfortable headphone listening while mixing. The basic idea is to avoid wearing headphones louder or longer than necessary. Hearing Guard gives you an estimated A-weighted listening level and daily dose tracking. Headphone Crossfeed adds a little controlled crosstalk between left and right, so headphone listening feels less like hard-separated sound inside your head and a little more like sitting in front of speakers. Loud...

Dyn + EQ Fix is a REAPER ReaScript for item-based volume riding and targeted EQ fixes. It can measure RMS and peak levels, detect plosives, boom, harshness, sibilance or a custom frequency range, and write ReaEQ gain envelopes only around the detected moments. The script is made for detailed audio cleanup work where you want fast detection, but still want to audition and decide what gets changed. On May 8, 2026, we recorded an improvised live session at Kraakwerk Studio in Carré Tilburg, filmed by Ilse van Heel. During this session, Léon van Egmond played harmonica and trombone, while I, Hans Timmermans / Budha Building, created the electronic soundscapes. Afterwards, I brought the music into Magic Music Visuals, where I created audio-reactive visuals that respond directly to the sound. The visuals were made using ISF shaders and ISF FX plugins. These videos are the result: live improvisation, electronics...

A new mission on the Stelling Fiets Over the past weeks Hans Timmermans has been working on Het Maurits Mysterie, a new location-based game made for Fort Producties. It is designed as a cycling route around Willemstad, but the experience is more than a route alone: it combines a bicycle trip, a treasure hunt and the tension of an escape room. Players ride a special bicycle with a case mounted at the front. Inside that case are the tools and materials needed to investigate the story, solve puzzles and build a person...

Eefje is turning again Last week we brought eefjewentelteefje.nl back online: the old interactive website for Eefje Wentelteefje, the character and world by Jeroen de Leijer. Jeroen and Hans have been working together for years. Hans has often made music, sound and compositions for Jeroen's interactive programmes, including the Ken Jezelf TV series. This time the work was a small restoration project with a lot of affection for the original: making the old Eefje site usable again. From Flash to Ruffle The site...

PoëzieNacht at the Burcht On Friday 20 June 2026, the Leidse PoëzieNacht turned the Burcht in Leiden into an intimate open-air stage for language, music and encounter. The evening was part of the Van Rijn Festival by Fields of Wonder, which filled the Burcht and other historic places in Leiden with poetry, music, visual art and meetings from 19 to 21 June. For this edition I, Hans Timmermans, was involved as a regular maker and technician for Fields of Wonder. My contribution was practical and supporting: helping w...

Zot, Zotter, Zotst A project with Geert van der Velden, Fields of Wonder and a group of local makers has landed at BplusC Bibliotheek Stevenshof in Leiden Zuid. The hybrid exhibition Zot, Zotter, Zotst brings together work by eleven local artists responding to the community art project De Zinnen Verzetten 2025-2026. The project is about encounters in the neighbourhood: moments between residents, makers and stories that would otherwise pass by quickly, but are now held, shared and passed on through image, text, soun...

Live Performance Sequencer in Development I am currently building a live performance sequencer for Kraakwerk. The system can load REAPER project profiles and turn them into a playable performance environment. The goal is to make arrangements feel immediate on stage: instruments can be played live, the performance can jump between arrangement markers, and scenes can store solo and mute states for different musical moments. Starting and stopping can be quantized, so transitions stay locked to the musical grid instead...

Building this website as a live creative process This Kraakwerk website was built through vibe programming: a fast, conversational way of shaping software where the idea, the design and the working code evolve at the same time. Instead of starting with a fixed technical specification, the site grew through small decisions: articles, tags, menus, music projects, galleries, Bandcamp embeds, SoundCloud, standalone code projects and a lightweight admin system. The result is a custom CMS that fits the way Kraakwerk work...

Webbased QLab-style media launcher HT Player is a browser-based media controller for starting live image, video, audio and text cues. It is intended as a lightweight, low-budget alternative to tools like QLab for small performances, installations, try-outs and quick live setups. The player lets you load media, trigger items from a cue list, work with fades and use a separate projector/output window. It is useful when you want to start sound and visuals live without building a heavy show-control system. Open HT Play...
