Times were good, but they would be even better if the other were not there. That is why people demonstrated in favour of war.

War is, much to the sorrow of Echte Mensen, still a painfully current theme. On the album Belle Epoque, they reflect on different sides of this horror. They do so in a surprising way, from shifting perspectives: the impact on the individual soldier, the consequences it can have for someone’s personality, and how fear and incitement can make a mind, or even entire nations, run wild.

Part of the album is clearly set around the First World War, but what happened then is still happening now.

The album Belle Epoque consists of five tracks: Belle Epoque, Holland waakt, Allemaal lafheid, Machinegeweer and Vampier van Vlaamse velden.
