Eefje Wentelteefje is back online

Eefje is turning again
Last week we brought eefjewentelteefje.nl back online: the old interactive website for Eefje Wentelteefje, the character and world by Jeroen de Leijer.
Jeroen and Hans have been working together for years. Hans has often made music, sound and compositions for Jeroen's interactive programmes, including the Ken Jezelf TV series. This time the work was a small restoration project with a lot of affection for the original: making the old Eefje site usable again.
From Flash to Ruffle
The site had disappeared from daily use because modern browsers no longer support Flash. All the animations and interactive parts were still there, but the plugin they depended on was gone.
The website has now been taken apart and put back to work with Ruffle, the open-source Flash emulator. That means the old animations, menus and games can run again in a current browser, without needing the original Flash plugin.
The original site was made around Jeroen's drawings and world, with contributions by Frans van der Meer and Hans, and interaction design by Marcel van der Linde. The revived version keeps that old web energy intact: handmade, strange, playful and very much its own universe.
Tribute to the nineties
The timing is nice, because Jeroen and Hans are also preparing De Eefje Wentelteefje Tribute to the Nineties Karaoke Show. Soon that show can be booked through the Eefje website as well.
For now, the best way in is simply to visit the site, click around and rediscover the games.
