RetroGrid for REAPER
Article
RetroGrid is a REAPER JSFX plugin for crunchy old-sampler character. It is inspired by the early Fruity Loops sound: clipped samples, ring modulation, reduced bit depth, sample-rate reduction, and the rough 4-bit and 8-bit edges that make small sounds feel direct, cheap, loud, and alive.
The plugin is meant as a character effect rather than a clean repair tool. It can push drums, one-shot samples, loops, voices, and game-like sounds into a more damaged digital grid. The built-in scope shows the left and right waveform in cyan and magenta, with red zones for the clipping threshold.
